"What drew me to buy Swing Dancing 101 were a few things. First, the website is very user friendly and full of info. So it was easy to make a choice. I am a true beginner at dancing, and this dvd helped me A LOT. There is plenty of detailed information about every little thing, starting with rhythm & timing. I was really struggling with that before (sigh), but now it makes sense to me! It's a well made video with good picture quality, which is important to me. Another thing I liked is that you can tell the pair dancing are having fun and enjoying doing these lessons. It kept me entertained and interested. So it is easy to watch and stay focused. First off, I love to go out country dancing! I've taken, given, and been a part of many country, ballroom, swing and Latin dance lessons and I'll tell you country has the most options open for dancing and has the widest variety of folks to do it with. There's never any shortage of partners nor is there a lack of people to share the hobby. It's fairly inexpensive and a great social outlet.

All that said, if you're new to country dancing and you're looking to get started with your lessons, you should absolutely start with Country Dance 101. It's a great overview into country dancing and truly gets you off on the 'right foot' (no pun intended!). The very first thing you go through is a line dance and whether you're interested in line dancing or not, it's a great introduction to rhythm and steps that are going to be the foundation of your dancing as you progress. Believe me, it's much easier learning to do just steps and get your body accustomed to it than it is to learn steps and worry about leading or following right away. Also, it'll build each partner's confidence in themselves before having to work together. I started with line dances and have had great success with thousands of folks over the years going this route. I'm not saying you have to love line dancing or even want to do it, but understanding it and learning a little about it first will help your dancing tremendously.
As for the other 5 DVDs - I'd recommend doing the Couples Line Dancing 101 DVD next as it gives you a number of 'set routines' to do with a partner or that you can learn so you can do them with anyone. It exposes you to them and allows your mind and body to start piecing the dances together as you'll get accustomed to doing the motions and working on your style. A lot of guys like this one because they don't have to worry so much about the lead & follow elements. After that, you can get deep in to the basics of the Two-Step with our brand new Two-Step 101. Then get your Swing on and learn the basics of Swing with the soon-to-be best rated instruction on the market in Swing Dancing 101.
Last are both Triple Two-Step 101 and West Coast Swing 101. These are a little bit tougher, but they're not "hard" (this may not make sense to you yet, but it will). These dances will give you a good challenge, but you probably shouldn't start with them.
Overall, there's a ton of material in this pack. If you're new to country dancing, the Country Western Starter Pack will give you hours of endless fun and help you look good quickly.
