The Hustle, a dance that gained popularity due to the song that shares the same name, was inspired by the disco craze of the 1970s. Although there are several different types of hustle, the most widely danced hustle is known as the Three-Count Hustle. The Hustle was meant to be a deviation from the solo dancing of the 1960’s that discouraged touching between dance partners but encouraged dancing like an individual. Although the dance is not as popular now as it was when Saturday Night Fever was all the rage, it nonetheless has been a great influence in many dances today and occasionally is still danced in clubs.
