Hustle for Beginners
Back to Disco Dancing!
"In the early 80's my wife and I did a lot of Disco dancing but somehow the dance craze died down and we forgot all the moves. Now with this DVD it brings us back to dancing Disco again which is great for when we go on cruises and even social dancing in our hometown. There seems to be a revival of the old Disco dance. The steps and moves in the DVD are all we need. They are easy to follow and to remember because of repetitive instructions. The review at the end sums it all up."Dom Valbuena, Savannah, GA

Everyone has their favorite dance and I'm going to start this one out by saying the Hustle is my wife's favorite. For Joanna, it's an escape from reality while getting a great deal of cardio. The dance flows well and shows well, even for beginners but only if it's done correctly. Hustle can be a very frustrating and confusing dance if you've been taught from someone who really didn't 'get it'...

Hustle was a tough dance for me. I first learned to dance the hustle in a ballroom. Ter-ri-ble! The steps were there but the count was such that it made the dance very choppy and made the guys look like they were hopping throughout the dance every 3 counts or so. I hated the dance, but loved watching others on the pro circuit. This was a problem for me. I tried Hustle lessons from 3 other dance instructors and it just didn't make sense to me. Something had to give... and it did.

Learn dancing todayI had broken the dance down on paper, studied it, danced it and then all of a sudden... BLAM!!!learn-dance-fun

My lightbulb for Hustle went off somewhere around 1995. I had broken the dance down on paper, studied it, danced it and then all of a sudden...BLAM!!!... it made sense! My breakthrough was on how it was counted and where the 'break' step was. The same dance, yet a completely different result for me and all my students at the time. This one little change made complete sense and became simple. I was convinced that others taught it the way they did to ensure I'd continue taking lessons because of how hard it was. To say the least, I was mad. Mad at the time, money, and frustration of trying to go through a dance the wrong way. I'm sure many of you have experienced this as well.

I say all this because the way the Hustle is taught on Hustle for Beginners is the approach that I came across years ago that really suits the dance. It makes the dance something that both the leaders and the followers enjoy and one that really makes you feel good after each dance. I believe Hustle will be taught much more once dance instructors embrace the new way of teaching it in upcoming years and will become a dance staple, such as swing and two-step. We will soon be releasing an entire series on Hustle, so keep an eye out for it. In the meantime, this DVD is near an hour and a half and has tons of great information that will definitely get you dancing and having a good time. Shawn Trautman Dance Instructor
