Glide across the dance floor with skillful slow dance technique and you’ll think more about the fun intimacy you’re creating than the timing of a turn.  The intimate nature of slow dance lends itself well to beginner instruction. It’s very easy to relax when you’re dancing with a trusted partner and even beginning slow dancers enjoy the learning process, laughing at any mistake and fixing the problem together.

To keep the “fun” in fundamentals, learn to dance with Shawn Trautman DVDs.  The world-renowned dance instructor won’t just tell you how to slow dance – he’ll show you the steps using multiple camera angles and invite you to dance along.  By the end of each lesson, you’ll be ready to lead or follow any slow dance a DJ chooses to play..

If you plan to ask strangers to dance, make the experience fun for them as well. This isn’t the time to show off your moves and leave a partner in utter confusion.
