It don't mean a thing without that true country
swing. Here's a secret to ponder
during your swing dance lesson: When you master the
art of swing dancing, you've got the country swing
down pat too. The only difference between traditional
and country swing is the music, which is one reason why we
call the country variation on swing "city slicker
meets country bumpkin." However you choose to
describe this dance, it amounts to one truism: this
is an extremely enjoyable way to "cut a country
rug."
Instead of zoot suits, you'll see country swing
dancers in jeans and comfortable shirts. Some may
wear dancing cowboy boots, which have soft, flexible
soles. Others may don sneakers. This is a casual
dance, so no sequins or suits are required. Cowboy
hats are optional, but make sure you can see over the
brim before you wear one to the country dance
club.
Thanks to Shawn Trautman's extensive
beginning, intermediate and advanced swing DVDs, it's
simple and convenient to master the dance anytime and
anywhere. Learn some new steps during lunchtime.
Invite friends over and share the learning
experience. No matter where you decide to hold your
private country dance lesson, Shawn Trautman
will attend - that's a guarantee.
If you never decide to take your skills out of your
living room ballroom, that's all right. There's no
need to brave a smoky bar scene in order to enjoy
country swing dancing. But if you do decide to
venture outside with your skill, be prepared for
second glances. A Shawn Trautman-trained country
swing dancer is easy to spot!
