Two-Step for Beginners Volume 1
Very easy to follow
"From the wild wild west of Wyoming. This is an easy to learn 2 Step DVD. Once you get this one, you will be hooked. You might as well get the 2 step 3 pack and save some money. My husband and I are pretty good two steppers and started with the advanced 2 step DVD, then ordered the beginner to see what we missed. I think it is great for beginners or advanced. **Stand the way they tell you to ** girls mimic Joanna and guys mimic Shawn. I try to keep my eye on Joanna's feet, dance awhile and check to see that I'm still in step with her. That makes it very easy to follow. We polished up our 2 step skills with the beginner and then went on to the advanced DVD."

Shawn's take
Sheeesh. I just went back through all of what's covered in this DVD and am shaking my head in amazement. It's a LOT of material! Mind you, it's spread out over an hour and a half or so, but it's still a lot of incredibly important material if you're new to two-step.
Let me give you my thoughts before I get into the DVD though. I have danced social two-step (that means in clubs, where it counts, rather than on a ballroom dance floor) for almost 20 years now. I've danced with 'first-timers' and world champions and everything in between (and I mean everything!). This is one of the best social dances out there because it's one you can get out and have fun with, even if you stink (in a dancing kind of way). The fact that it's progressive means that the dance is constantly moving counter-clockwise around the dance floor...which means, you're not in one place doing the same thing over and over. This is important when it comes to "making a follower feel good about herself." I say this for a reason - read on...
As a leader, my main goal is to please my partner. Pleasing her does not mean confusing her or making her feel like she can't do something. Pleasing her is about paying attention to her; being attentive; protecting her (very important in two-step); keeping her interested (not doing the same thing over and over and over); not making her think (giving her a mental break); and making her feel beautiful out on the dance floor. All this can be done with the basics you learn in Two-Step Volume 1 and a little creativity. more...
We start you out in this DVD assuming you know nothing about Two-Step and we assume you're new to dancing. The information is presented as if you were standing right there with us, meaning you'll have time to practice. If you're looking for a DVD that just has moves and patterns, this isn't it. If you already know how to dance the Two-Step and are comfortable, you'll find the information way too slow. If you're brand new, however, you'll find it just right for how you learn.
Once we get you set up, moving, and comfortable, we show you a number of neat pieces that you'll be able to use your very first time out on the floor. The tips and drills you'll get on this DVD are invaluable as you start your quest towards becoming proficient. Things like how to prepare for leads, how to position your bodies so you don't step on toes, how to ensure you don't run into other couples, where each partner's hands should be, etc., etc. It's good stuff if you really want to set yourself up for long-term success.
Last, if you're already a two-step dancer, but you're not confident about leading or following, I highly recommend you start here. The one, two, or three little things you learn out of this DVD can make all the difference in the world. Take the time to ensure you truly understand the dance so you can make each dance one that your partner lights up over and feels good about.
Have fun with it and as always, if you have any questions about Two-Step, feel free to call me anytime (877-326-2301). Enjoy!
Shawn has given you his take, but I (Joanna Trautman) wanted to add a note as well. You are looking at the entry lessons on one of Shawn's favorite dances. Shawn practically breathes in Two-Step quick quick slow slow rhythm. This dance is as natural to him as putting on a casual button-down shirt, pair of jeans, and cowboy boots to leave the house. You will be both a competent and a confident two-step dancer after Two-Step for Beginners Volume 1, and will be dancing at the same level of pretty much anyone but a pro on the social dance floor. That being said, don't stop here! Pick Shawn's brain! Get his moves! You'll amaze yourself with what you'll be able to do after mastering Two-Step for Beginners Volume 2 and Two-Step for Intermediate Dancers Volume 1!

"Best Two-Step Video!
I have watched several videos on learning the two-step. Almost all of them focus on the foot work and completely leave out the signals to your partner. This video covers that important topic." C. Lynch
"Having miserably failed our first dance class and firmly yet politely asked not to return for another my wife and I assumed that we must be among the no rhythm or balance with two left feet dancing wannabes. We were doomed to zombie like dancing forever. You know the style; swaying back and forth with lifeless energy. Just like the living dead! However, our optimism and resourcefulness has paid off. Hooray! We discovered the Shawn Trautman dance lesson DVDs with only six to eight hours of practice we have found our natural rhythm, balance and our right feet! Wow! What a discovery! We are now confidently dancing the two step and a wonderful slow dance. We are also working on the more advanced two step and a waltz. The instructional DVDs allow us to review steps as much as we need to. Shawn's dance steps and instructions are easy to follow. We are now truly dancing and could not be happier using these DVDs. You, too, can dance with dignity and style. Next dance floor is our 40th class reunion. Thanks, Shawn!" Bobby Sloan
"Absolutely Fantastic!
I'm a first time customer and now completely sold on Shawn's instruction. My girlfriend and I have been taking weekly two-step classes for the last 3 months and I wanted to go back and work on the basics. In the first 15 minutes alone I picked up several things that I wish I'd known months ago. What I really like is that Shawn spends the time teaching what it means to lead a woman and that his wife goes through what following is about. We really enjoyed the lessons and look forward to going through the next DVD. We've decided it's much easier to learn from your DVDs than our class and we'll be spending more time at home practicing. Thanks!" Tommy T., Unknown
"We find this the best instuctional video we have. Shawn teaches in a way that you can follow without being confused by too much too fast as many other insructors do. We found it easy to follow and with great tips on style."Gary R. Wolcott Sr.
"If you have two left feet and have a difficult time remembering instructions, especially when it comes to dance lessons, then believe me, this dance video is for you. Trust me, Shawn and his wife make the lessons so unbelievably easy that I'm now slightly embarrassed when I realize how easy it is to two-step. I always got mixed up on the dance floor and wasn't really sure I was two-stepping correctly, but now I know exactly how to do it! I am going to order more of his videos." Olive (Canada)
"I am shocked! I have to admit I didn't think I'd really learn anything from this DVD. After all I had tried several other companies DVD's and still couldn't dance. But I thought I'd try one more. Thank you Shawn! I'm dancing! Very easy to understand. If Shawn can teach me to dance... he can dang sure teach you!"Damon Tankersley
"Terrific lessons!
