Customer Reviews

Absolutely Fantastic!
"I'm a first time customer and now completely sold on Shawn's instruction. My girlfriend and I have been taking weekly two-step classes for the last 3 months and I wanted to go back and work on the basics. In the first 15 minutes alone I picked up several things that I wish I'd known months ago. What I really like is that Shawn spends the time teaching what it means to lead a woman and that his wife goes through what following is about. We really enjoyed the lessons and look forward to going through the next DVD. We've decided it's much easier to learn from your DVDs than our class and we'll be spending more time at home practicing. Thanks!"

You will be glad you purchased this one
"I received Two-Step Volume One after I had wasted hundreds of dollars on other videos on the market so I already knew that Shawn's Trautman's tapes were the best there is on the market.
When I got this tape, just like the first one I was not disappointed. This tape was easy to follow just like the first one. Shawn teaches in a way that even a first grader could learn from the tape but does it in a way that is exciting and fun to anyone."

This tape is the best on the market
"I had spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on learn to dance videos before I finally started receiving Shawn Truatman's videos. I quickly realized all that early money had been wasted. Shawn's tapes are the best there is. I recommend these tapes to anyone because the teaching method used by Shawn's tapes are done in a way that are easy to understand and makes it easy for any beginner to understand but at the same time someone who already has experience can learn from the tapes also. The tapes are taught so well that I feel if a beginner looked at one of Shawn's more advanced tapes they could even learn from that. I wish I would have had this information and I would have bought Shawn's tapes first and I would not have wasted all that money on bad tapes."

What's my candid take on the Two Step Starter Pack?
Written: November 23, 2009
Over the last 10 years or so, Two-Step has evolved to be one of my favorite two dances. I know and understand this dance inside and out from a "social dance" perspective (which means being able to lead and/or follow it) and have put together a great collection of leadable moves.
Two-Step is a dance that should be danced to a strong, driving beat. Songs like "Holdin' Heaven" by Tracy Byrd, "Texas Tattoo" by the Gibson Miller Band, and "Ticks" by Brad Paisley all come to mind when I think of Two-Step. My goal when I dance Two-Step is to make whoever it is I'm dancing with feel like they're the best dancer in the place. This doesn't mean I try every move I know, it means I dance to a level that works for them and also that I lead them through moves that make sense and look good. As a leader, I should be able to take anyone around the dancefloor and never have them wonder what it is I'm doing. The lead needs to be THAT clear!
In this collection of Two-Step DVDs, I teach the very same moves that I use as they're what works. In other words, I practice what I preach. Even if you've been dancing Two-Step for some time now, I guarantee you'll find some great stuff to use and some pointers and perspective you won't find anywhere else on these DVDs. The only thing I don't like about them is that they were filmed in a nightclub and the lighting wasn't as good as it was in some of our studio shoots. Still great information though and a set that I highly recommend.

Shawn has given you his take, but I (Joanna Trautman) wanted to add a note as well. Shawn wasn't exagerating when he said this was one of his favorite dances. For Shawn, dancing Two Step is like throwing a football with our children or wearing cowboy boots with jeans - just as natural as it gets. You are getting some of Shawn's signature moves once you are into the material on Intermediate Volume 1, and the combination of complexity, speed, and connection between partners is a bit of an adrenaline rush on the dance floor every time! Don't be intimidated: these are stacked lessons, so Shawn will take you from complete beginner (awkward and all!) to very competent and smooth in three DVDs! You will be amazed after mastering this series!

What's the official description for the Two Step Starter Pack?
Unarguably your best bet when it comes to Two-Step! You get four and a half hours of step-by-step lessons that are masterfully
shown using a logical approach that makes this dance fun and exciting.
Your two-step lessons go from absolute beginner to a full understanding of the dance with plenty of practice time inbetween.
Just like in the Swing and West Coast Swing DVDs, you'll find yourself way ahead of most when it comes to lead &
follow Two-Step as Shawn carefully builds your mastery of the most critical elements for success.
"There are two good reasons to buy Shawn and Joanna Trautman's dance videos: the explanations are clear and the moves look so cool! The Trautmans break every move into simple parts and consolidate what they teach with repetition. Leads and follows are clearly demonstrated. Instead of two minute segments, each lesson is up to twenty minutes long and builds like a lesson at the studio. No more hitting rewind over and over as you practice - just follow along in real time. And the moves are combinations that look smooth and sophisticated together, a choreographed routine rather than just a collection of tricks. It's the difference between mechanically walking through the steps and gliding through like a pro. Now I know where the dancers I envy are learning their moves!" S. Willson
These easy-to-follow DVDs build on top of one another, meaning each move you learn in Volume 1 is used to build the next move, and so on. You'll go from step one fundamentals to understanding intricate lead & follow combinations that are essential for dancing Two-Step with anyone.
