Thanksgiving Thoughts

Fault vs Responsibility Shawn Trautman Lessons in Leadership
Quiet introspection may just be one of my most utilized self-examination tools of 2020.

Come to think of it, I’m not sure what other self-examination tools I use.

Maybe a bathroom mirror? A looking glass? Photos?

Yeah, no, it’s the introspection that wins.

I chose this picture as it’s my go-to look when I’m thinking. In this case, it’s about this entire year AND about Thanksgiving, and how they tie in.

2020’s been rough. Mentally. Socially. Hygienically. Physically. Financially. Racially. Educationally. Politically… the list goes on.

Personally, I’m tired. Nearly worn out. Our family’s sickness this year was long & grueling, but I’m so incredibly thankful to have made our way back to a new norm.

My kids are tired. They don’t really understand why we can’t just go back to normal yet. Well, they get it, but deep down they don’t and their frustrations show.

Frankly, I’m worried about the mental toll this year is taking on people and whether or not we’ll all truly rebound.

I feel like we’re all in that frame of mind. We’re all tired and want it to end. But, will it? What does the finish line look like? Which one, right?

The pandemic? The vaccine? The election? The mask-mandates? The shut-downs? The media? I mean, really….

So, today, I’m thankful. I’m not happy about not seeing loved ones or friends on Thanksgiving, but I’m thankful.

I’m thankful for so many of life’s little blessings. That I’m able to sit and write this on an otherwise dreary morning with the kids all sleeping. That I have friends that I care deeply about. That I can feel the pain and suffering of others and empathize genuinely.

That I’m more focused, than ever, on helping other people and their businesses. That we have technologies that connect us all in times like these when all we can do, it seems, is look out of our windows.

That life, although altered, is still going on around us.

Friends, I hope you take the time to just enjoy today for what it is. A time to sit back, reflect, and be thankful for who you are, what you’ve become, what you have and what all you’ve been blessed with.

And, of course, Happy Thanksgiving to you & your families from me and mine.

❤️

I’ve Never Been to a Hooters

I’ve Never Been to a Hooters

When most people think of branding, they think of colors and logos. Branding is the core essence of your existence. It’s what your brand represents. It’s what your brand conveys. It’s the imagination your brand ignites. It’s the experience and feelings and atmosphere. It’s the floors, tables, dust, and lighting. It’s the menu & word choices, the food, the speed, and the smile that comes with it. It’s the bathrooms and the soap and the garbage and the type of toilet paper. It’s the system that works to remind you that you’re there for a reason. It’s what gets you to talk about it over and over and over.
