You can’t win ’em all

Fault vs Responsibility Shawn Trautman Lessons in Leadership

Playing the hand you’re dealt doesn’t mean you’ll win.

Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose.

Sometimes you have a really good hand and get beat by someone with a better hand. Sometimes you win with a hand you shouldn’t have.

It all depends on how you play what you’re dealt.

Over the course of a night you could play, literally, hundreds of hands.

Over the course of our lives we play, literally, hundreds of hands.

There’s a striking similarity here.

1 – You have to pace yourself and not go “all in” on everything. Else, you’ll be out of the game before too long.

2 – Conversely, sometimes you have to go “all in” to give your heart some exercise.

3 – You get to choose how aggressively you play at any point.

4 – Sometimes you get beat when you least expect it.

5 – Sometimes you just have to walk away from things when they’re good.

6 – Knowing when to fold a hand is as important as knowing which ones to play.

7 – Knowing who you’re playing against is critical. What do they have to lose? How deep are their pockets? What’s their goal?

8 – It’s better to be playing a hand and have a chance at winning than to just sit and watch others.

9 – You never know what the next hand might bring. It may be the one you’ve been waiting for. It may also be the one that bankrupts you. You’ve got to be in it to win it though.

And, last, so this isn’t too long (though I feel like I could probably write for hours on this subject)…

10 – Playing with others that enjoy playing (not just winning) is WAY more fun than playing with miserable people.

So, listen, go play. Have fun. Win. Lose. Whatever. Get in the game. Change tables. Find people you enjoy. Just don’t give up and think you’ll never win.

You haven’t been dealt your best hand yet.

❤️❤️

I’ve Never Been to a Hooters

When most people think of branding, they think of colors and logos. Branding is the core essence of your existence. It’s what your brand represents. It’s what your brand conveys. It’s the imagination your brand ignites. It’s the experience and feelings and atmosphere. It’s the floors, tables, dust, and lighting. It’s the menu & word choices, the food, the speed, and the smile that comes with it. It’s the bathrooms and the soap and the garbage and the type of toilet paper. It’s the system that works to remind you that you’re there for a reason. It’s what gets you to talk about it over and over and over.
